Dr. Ruth Oratz is a board certified medical oncologist who specializes in treating women with breast cancer and other malignancies, and those at risk for cancer. She sees women with all stages of breast cancer as well as those with benign or pre-malignant conditions. Dr. Oratz has an interest and expertise in treating families with genetic susceptibility to cancer. She is especially committed to helping the woman facing cancer continue to live her life actively and fully. She places significant attention on flexible treatment programs. Her practice addresses women's concerns about family life, career, relationships and sexuality.

Dr. Oratz has been practicing medical oncology for many years and recently established The Women's Oncology & Wellness Practice, a unique environment that provides state-of-the-art medical care in an intimate, personal and private setting. The focus of the Women's Oncology & Wellness Practice is individual attention and personal care by Dr. Oratz and her staff. Treatment is tailored to the individual patient, including access to clinical trials, genetic counseling and testing, patient education and integration of cancer care with overall health and wellness.

Dr. Oratz is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine. She is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Oratz graduated from Radcliffe College/Harvard University where she concentrated in History and Science. She then lived and studied in France before returning to medical school in New York. She graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with honors as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Oratz then completed her post-doctoral training in internal medicine and medical oncology at the New York University School of Medicine in New York, New York. Dr. Oratz has participated in clinical research and is widely published in her field. She has been in practice since 1988.

Dr. Oratz is active both locally and nationally as a speaker and health care educator, appearing on television and radio as well as lecturing to the public. She is on the medical advisory board of Living Beyond Breast Cancer ; breastcancer.org ; Cancer and Careers ; Sharsheret ; and The New York City Metatastic Breast Cancer Network. She is also a medical consultant to Cancer Care. Dr. Oratz has been listed in "The Best Doctors in America" in Redbook Magazine and "The Best Doctors in NYC" in New York Magazine. Dr. Oratz also teaches medicine at the NYU School of Medicine.
